Our program has been planned to help two-, three-, and four-year-old children reach their mental, emotional, physical and spiritual development goals.

We welcome children of all races and religious beliefs.

    The curriculum includes daily prayer, regularly held chapel, and celebrations of Easter and Christmas.  Nutritious morning and afternoon snacks, as well as a wholesome hot lunch, are served daily (included in tuition).  Menus are provided. 
    Children play outside twice daily, weather permitting. Dress should be appropriate for the weather. 
    The children take naps on cots; parents should provide bed linens and wash them weekly. 
    Field trips will occasionally be scheduled throughout the year.  Parents may be requested to come along as chaperones. 

Parents are welcome to visit and observe the children at any time and are invited to discuss any aspect of their child's development in private conference. 

The Child Development Center (CDC) is licensed by the Maryland Department of Human Resources and is inspected annually.  The CDC is a not-for-profit, Christian program that is a community ministry of the First Baptist Church of Silver Spring.  The CDC has accident insurance for each enrolled child. 

The CDC is open Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m, all year.  We close on Federal holidays. 

Children are accepted on a space-available basis.  If no space is available, the child will be placed on the waiting list and the family called when the child may enroll. 
    A health inventory and immunization record must be completed by the child's physician before enrollment. 
    A nonrefundable registration fee, plus a two-week tuition deposit (to be applied to the child's last two weeks at the CDC) must be paid upon registration. 

Tuition is due weekly and must be paid in advance.  Lunch is included in the tuition cost. Effective August 31, 2010 the tuition costs for the Child Development Center are as follows:

Children Age 18 months to 2 years (Blue Room)
Full Day $282 per week
8:30 a.m.-3:00 p.m. $226 per week
8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. $188 per week

Two Year Old Children (Blue Room)
Full Day $247 per week
8:30 a.m.-3:00 p.m. $198 per week
8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. $165 per week

Three to Five Year Old Children (Red, Green, and Yellow Rooms)
Full Day $213 per week
8:30 a.m.-3:00 p.m. $170 per week
8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. $141 per week
